Did You Know?

Every day in this country, 1,900 children become victims of abuse or neglect.

646,000 neglected and abused children find themselves in foster care each year.

An estimated 1,564 children died from abuse or neglect in 2012.

Ways to Help

Everyone has a role to play in preventing child abuse. From supporting a stressed parent to participating in an April event in your community to becoming a CASA volunteer. Below are just a few examples.

Encourage your community leaders to learn about the protective factors that prevent at-risk parents from becoming abusers.

Encourage local service providers to produce a directory of available services that are easy to find in the community

If your governor, mayor, or other local elected official is not planning a public statement for Child Abuse Prevention Month, consider starting and publicizing a petition to change his or her mind!

Organize a day to wear blue for abuse prevention awareness. Contact local businesses and government and get their employees involved.

Become a CASA volunteer!
